Why Financial Remainder & Commute Time are Reported Separately:

Many relocation calculators combine salary, taxes, and commute into an arbitrary "Overall Livability Score." We strictly separate financial disposable cash from personal commute burden because human tradeoffs (e.g. trading 40 extra minutes on a train for €500 more monthly disposable income) are personal decisions, not mathematical absolutes.

Evaluation Methodology & Anti-Obfuscation Rules

Dimension 1: Financial Retainment

Monthly Remainder = Net Take-Home Pay − Estimated Local Living Expenses

A higher nominal salary in an expensive capital (such as Amsterdam, Dublin, or Munich) can frequently produce a lower monthly remainder than a modest salary in a secondary city (such as Tampere, Leipzig, or Kraków) due to housing costs.

Dimension 2: Personal Commute Burden

Monthly Commute Hours = (Daily Roundtrip Minutes × ~21.7 Work Days) / 60

Commute time represents uncompensated life hours. We report total monthly transit hours explicitly so you can evaluate whether the compensation premium justifies the time spent on trains or highways.

Why We Prohibit Opaque Overall Scores:

Many recruitment comparison tools compute an arbitrary "Overall Relocation Score" (e.g. 78/100) using undisclosed weighting models. Such scores falsely imply that a mathematical formula can balance your preference between financial savings and personal commute flexibility. We give you raw, verified, unweighted numbers so you maintain complete agency over your career decision.
